ARP Theory
Denis Thompson, developer of ARP protocols for injury recovery
and strength training, believes that the key to accelerated
recovery from muscle-related injury and increased muscle strength
and flexibility is eccentric contraction.
Trauma causes muscle tissue to concentrically contract, thus
causing pain and restricted range of motion. And as long as
muscle tissue remains in concentric contraction, the process
of healing is greatly retarded.
Electrical stimulation which does NOT allow for active range
of motion and eccentric contraction yields little or no increase
in range of motion, acceleration of healing, or increase in
strength.
ARP protocols are specially designed to be administered with
the ARP Trainer. They comprise the only electrical stimulation
modality which allows injured muscles to instantly relax,
elongate, and permit eccentric contraction.
See the ARP Trainer for
technical specifications.
