Throughout my volleyball career in high school, Junior Olympic Club, and three years of college volleyball at the University of Michigan I had been struggling with lower back pain. My pain turned into a major injury when on August 28, 2001, I hit a volleyball in practice, that was way too tight to the net. With that one hit, I cracked my L5 vertebrate, herniated my disk, and bulged the two disks above my L4.

I was 21 years old and could not reach anything with my left arm, or pick anything directly off the floor with both hands. I moved around like an old lady. The thought of never being able to pick up and carry around my own children was unbearable.

Something had to be done to fix this, but the only options offered were to fuse my bottom two vertebrate together, or inject my back with Cortisone. I opted for the shot, however ever it increased the pressure on my spinal cord to the point that I relied on an anti-inflammatory called Vioxx just to get out of bed. All I wanted to do was sleep so that the pain would go away.

The prognosis was not very good. The only option offered by two different orthopedic surgeons was a new procedure that would attempt to shrink my disk with surgery. Though a relatively short procedure, the recovery time was 6-8 weeks of bed rest. That was when I came home from school and met my miracle man, Denis.

My first visit to him began with some skepticism. He claimed to be able to fix what three doctors told me was not fixable. However, on that day with his treatment I was able to rotate my torso and turn in directions that I had not been able to do without extreme pain for 9 months.

I was so surprised, shocked, excited, ecstatic you name it, I felt it. Not only could I move in ways that I was told 1 wouldn?t do again on my own, but after I left the office my pain level had so decreased considerably that I quit taking the Vioxx that very day.

Throughout the next couple of weeks I went to Denis almost every day. With every visit I could move my back farther and easier. I am young and my body wants to heal, I just had to give it the opportunity.

Today my back is not an inhibitor. I am coaching volleyball, running, swimming and all of it free of any kind of medication. My back simply does not hurt anymore.

There are no words to express my gratitude to the man who gave me a chance to live a lifestyle everyone else said was impossible. I am scared to think of where I would be if I had not been treated by Denis.
